NORTH GOONYELLA FIRE REPORT. Why It Needs To Be Published? Mine Workers Lives And Livelihood’s Depend On It

NORTH GOONYELLA FIRE REPORT. Why it needs to be published? Mine Workers Lives and Livelihood’s depend on it

REASON NUMBER 1

Any possible Compliance Activity will take place slowly and out of the public eye unless it heads to an Open Court hearing, likely taking 2 years.

The pitiful excuse that the Mines Inspectorate has dished out that the Report will be released when possible Compliance Action is completed is a complete Insult.

An Insult to all those workers who lost their lives at Moura No 2, their still grieving families, former workmates and friends.

An Insult to all Underground Coal Mine Workers, their friends and families.

People who through no choice of their own must trust with the Statutory Officials to Competently Manage the Safety of the Mine and not knowingly or through Incompetence expose them to potentially lethal conditions in the Mine

For those unfamiliar with some background let me point out the following.

The Underground Mine Manager at North Goonyella in 2018 has a track record that is truly unmatched in Queensland and I dare say around the World.

Mr Romanski was the Mine Manager at Cook Colliery in 2007 when for the only time in its 50 years the Mine was evacuated and Emergency Sealing occurred due to out of control Spontaneous Combustion.

He was also the Mine Manager at Carborough Downs Mine in 2012 when the mine was evacuated due to Spontaneous Combustion.

At North Goonyella he was the Manager who oversaw the Fiasco.

He and other people in Statutory Positions at North Goonyella such as Ventilation Officer are free to ply their “Skills” at any other Underground Coal Mine in the State and have been.

No questions asked.
